Requirements
- An Associate’s degree from an accredited institution with major studies in food service, nutrition, or dietetics or related experience.
- Must have a valid Driver's License
- Must have one year's experience working specifically with an elderly or aging population
- Previous food service experience in a health care facility preferred
- Knowledge of clinical dietetics is preferred.
Responsibilities
.
Responsible for assisting the Registered Dietician in providing nutrition care and education to LIFE Center participants.
Responsible for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.
- Under the direction of the RD, responsible to assist in planning regular and therapeutic diets based on the individual needs of the participants. Evaluate and assist in the operation of an effective food service.
- Under the direction of the RD, responsible to assist in ensuring that therapeutic diets are prepared and served as ordered by the physician, and that no participant receives a therapeutic diet except as ordered by the physician.
- Under the direction of the RD, responsible to follow up on participants upon enrollment and on a regular basis thereafter to determine food likes, dislikes, allergies, etc.
- Visit participants in the dining room during meal times to maintain an acceptable level of communication with participants
- Participate in the participant assessment process and the development of comprehensive care plans for assessing the nutritional needs of each participant. Counsel with participants regarding appetite, food habits, enjoyment of meals, menu patterns, and therapeutic diets, if prescribed physician, as well as likes and dislikes.
- Include participant/family/caregiver in development of care plan and educate same regarding any care plan changes or updates.Attend family council meeting as scheduled
The ideal candidate must have a Associates Degree from an accredited institution with major studies in food service, nutrition, dietetics or related experience, and must have one year's experience working specifically with an elderly or aging population.
